MCESP is in the process of setting up the following committees and want members who are interested to have an opportunity to serve. Your voice is needed for the success of our local.

Negotiations Committee:

The Board Liaison’s shall be the President, Vice-President, Secretary, Nurse, Skilled

Trades and members appointed by the President. The Negotiations Committee shall

review all existing economic and non-economic policies and prepare a survey to be

distributed to the membership to determine their requirements and develop a proposed

package to be negotiated with the school board by the Organization’s negotiating team.

The organization’s negotiating team shall be selected from the Committee. The

Committee may choose the Organization’s chief negotiator.

Membership/Welcome Committee

The Board Liasons for this committee shall be the At-Large Board, Transportation,

ParaProfessional Members who will work in conjunction with committee members

appointed by the President. The Membership Committee shall organize and conduct

recruiting efforts. The committee shall work with the Executive Committee to identify

new hires and welcome them to join. This work shall be UniServ Directors. The

committee shall and Executive Board shall assure that welcome packages and letters

are prepared and available to be distributed to new members on behalf of the MCESP

President and Executive Board. Members should receive information on benefits,

professional development opportunities, meetings, etc. The information should also

include an invitation to the FB group and how to access the Mobile Co. ESP web page,

which is currently under construction.

Election Committee

The Vice-President (in lieu of the President) shall be the Board Liaison’s for this

committee. Election Committee shall develop election rules and procedures for

approval by the local Executive Committee and also in compliance with AEA. The local

Affiliate shall apply the one-person-one-vote principal for representation on its

governing bodies and shall take such steps as are legally permissible to achieve

ethnic-minority representation at lease proportionate to its ethnic minority membership.

All elections shall be conducted with pen nominations and a secret ballot. There shall be a

quorum being the majority of members present.

Hospitality Committee

CNP and Custodial/Maintenance members of the Executive board shall serv as the

liaisons for this committee. The committee shall plan for food service and set-up for

General Membership meetings and other events as the budget allows and when

applicable, whether prepared by the board members, catered, etc.

Grievance Committee

The Board Liaison’s for this committee shall be the President, Vice-President, IT,

Security and members appointed by the President. The Grievance Committee shall

explore and prepare action programs for securing satisfactory policies and procedures

for the redress of grievances. It shall discuss, review, and recommend personnel

policies and be distributed to each employee.

Legislative Committee

The President and Clerical Board Representatives shall serve as the Board Liaison’s for

this committee. The Legislative Committee shall have concern for local, state and

national legislation affecting interests of the organization and for the exercise of civic

responsibilities of members. It will keep informed on current legislative proposals and

objectives; interpret legislative contacts and advised by the state organization. It will

encourage the registration and voting of all members, arrange Organization meetings

on legislative, and in general, promote activities leading to the passage of favorable

legislation for schools.

Budget Committee

The MCESP Treasurer shall be the Board Liaison’s for this committee. The Budget

Committee shall develop and maintain fiduciary procedures to govern and audit the

local association finances as deemed necessary. This committee shall also task an

audit prior to the exit of current officer. The findings shall be documented and

transferred to the new officers (president, vice-president and treasurer) upon being

seated.

Public Relations

The President will be responsible for issuing statements and coordination

information that is to be distributed to members and the general public.

Other committees may be developed as needed. Committees will re-convene by

members appointed by the president each year. Correspondence will be sent to invite

interested members to participate on committees.
